Greek Goes Green works to incorporate sustainability in Fraternities and Sororities at Georgia College. Currently, there is a lack of awareness and effort towards environmental issues in the Greek community. Students involved in Greek life make up a large part of the student body, as well as a large part of the waste generated by campus organizations.
The program provides resources such as composting, recycling, environmental education sessions, guidance on making an event low-waste, and connections to collaborate with other environmental groups on campus. Greek Goes Green serves as the liaison between the Office of Sustainability and the Greek life chapters. The program is designed to grow Greek life members into being more aware of their effect on the environment and carry those principles and actions into their work and home environments once they leave Georgia College.
