Pop-up Thrift Shop 2025

Dodge the Dump 2025
The Office of Sustainability hosted Dodge the Dump 2025 (May 5-9th), Georgia College & State University’s annual end-of-year move-out collection event designed to reduce waste and support the local community.
Each spring, as students move out of residence halls, tons of usable items are often discarded. Dodge the Dump provides an easy and sustainable alternative by collecting gently used furniture, clothing, school supplies, nonperishable food, and other household goods for donation.
In addition to its environmental benefits, Dodge the Dump fosters community engagement and encourages students to think critically about consumption and waste. By donating instead of discarding, students play a direct role in reducing GCSU’s environmental footprint and promoting a circular economy.
The Office of Sustainability thanks all students, volunteers, and campus partners who made Dodge the Dump 2025 a success. Together, we’re turning move-out season into a movement for sustainability.
Zero-Waste Workshop

GCSU’s Environmental Science Club and Office of Sustainability partnered to bring a zero-waste workshop to campus! Free zero-waste prizes were given to those who participated in a trivia game and brief presentation. This workshop raised awareness to use sustainable and eco-friendly products.
Recycling Audit 2024
The Office of Sustainability performed a recycling audit at GCSU’s West Campus to understand how effectively waste is being recycled on campus and identify areas for improvement on November 8, 2024.
After the audit, we found that students were not properly disposing of trash and recycling and around half of the recycling was waste.
